Open Document Formats finally default for Yale Law School A2K Conference

Geneva, September 8, 2008. The Yale Law School’s Access to Knowledge Conference kicks off in the International Conference Center of Geneva, Switzerland. One of the key activities of the Information Society Project, the Access to Knowledge to Knowledge is taking its first cautious steps outside of the United States of America. Now in its 3rd edition, the A2K Conference has been enriched, enlarged and groomed to include more knowledge areas. Specifically, the A2K3 has created space for films and motion pictures as well as medicine and health.
Noteworthy also, is that Open Document Formats have finally become the default document format for presentations. Having been at all three editions, I am personally impressed that the ISP has come this far. In the first edition, we had proprietary document formats; during the second edition, there was a 50-50 thing going on but the default still remained proprietary. The third edition has proved to be 100% ODF.
Open Source Intiative Directors – Rishab Aiyer Ghosh and Nnenna Nwakanma are both speaking. Rishab speaks on the Panel on Access to Knowledge and Open Business Models and Nnenna speaks on the Panel on Global Public Sphere: Media and Communication Rights.
